Unveiling the wizards behind the HTB cyber magic: Our Content team!

Seven years ago, Haris Pylarinos, the Founder and CEO of Hack The Box, sought an alternative to conventional cybersecurity training methods. That's when he decided to shake things up and create Hack The Box; a platform where easily accessible, agile, and engaging learning experiences that busy cybersecurity professionals and teams can work around their day and complete on-demand in bite-sized chunks. 

Now, who's behind all this cyber-magic? The Hack The Box Content team; a crew of 40 HTBers, most of whom are former users of our platform. These folks gather daily to cook up challenges united in the mission to eliminate the shortage of over 4 million cybersecurity experts and equip humans and organizations with the diverse skill sets necessary to combat evolving threats.

"Normally, outside of this company, you have to specialize in a specific area within cybersecurity. We have specialties like building infrastructure, red team attacks, and blue team incident response, each requiring different skills. In the role of content engineer, you develop skillsets across all of them simultaneously. That's why I’ve pursued this role", mentioned Dave Elliot, Senior Content Engineer at Hack The Box. 

The Hack The Box Content team splits into four squads, each with its specialty. There's the Community team, pumping out weekly challenges and HTB Labs. Then we've got the Business Content crew, cooking up custom content for 1,500+ organizations that trust Hack The Box for the continuously evolving growth journey of their cybersecurity and IT workforce.  The members of the CTF team are the masterminds behind our 3 flagship Capture The Flag events, Cyber Apocalypse CTF, HTB Business CTF, and HTB University CTF, and every CTF is tailored for our clients’ cyber teams. 

But wait, there's more! Just 1.5 years ago, we introduced a dedicated Defensive Content team, reflecting our commitment to a holistic approach to cyber workforce development. 

Now, here's the best part; the Content team knows how to work hard and play hard. Dave Elliot, Senior Content Engineer at Hack The Box, spills the tea by highlighting, “It’s amazing! It's definitely different from what I am used to. It’s a lot more open; everyone is happy to see each other, helpful, and partying hard."
